...I do what I want! Of course, family is first, but when I am able to steal a couple of moments to myself, I can be found creating, making, growing, reading and pondering.
Entrepreneurship and Business
I have a strong interest in businesses, how they work, how they function, how they gain clients, how products are designed and priced and how businesses provide services and products to the world. Almost all aspects of business interest me, but especially I like to learn about leadership and business processes. For a while I considered going back to school for a Master in Business Administration, but I decided for now I will try to teach myself. There are so many newspapers, magazines, web sites and podcasts about business and every little aspect about it that I try to read and learn from. It is a lot of material to sieve through, but I enjoy reading and listening about other businesses and about business leaders. One of my favorite podcasts to listen to is created by the Standford Technology Ventures Program. My particular interests in business is focused more toward small businesses and start up companies.
Embedded Systems, Electronics & Robotics
My degree is in electrical engineering. I chose to get an E.E. degree because of my fascination with electro-mechanical devices. My career has been mostly focused on creating industrial control systems for theme parks, but I also enjoy tinkering with circuit board design, microcontroller software and the creation of tools. I enjoy inspiring others and teaching them about robotics and electronics through my web site and through the articles I have written for Robot Magazine. I started a small side business called Brilldea to sell my ideas and creations and to practice my on-line business skills.
Theme Parks & Entertainment
Yes, not only is it my career, but it is an interest. I love reading the history of theme parks and about the leaders of the industry. I love seeing massive productions get pulled off and I love learning about the technical and financial challenges of a project. My interest in theme parks started when I was very young and my family made several trips to Walt Disney World. I still enjoy traveling to theme parks, as a guest, when time allows.
